St David's Singers, Exeter was formed by the then organist of St David's Church in the early 1970s, who directed the choir until Autumn 1994 when the baton was passed to Mark Perry.
The choir consists of about 30 singers who enjoy singing challenging music from a wide range of composers, periods and styles. We sing sacred and secular music, normally a cappella, in and around Devon, usually for charities.
In addition to our programme of concerts, from time to time we sing around the country in Cathedrals. More recently we visited Chichester Cathedral in February 2018 and Wells Cathedral in May 2018. 2019 took us to St Alban's and Truro, and in 2020 we sang in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, just before the Covid 19 lockdown began. In July 2021 we were able to resume again, and sang in Gloucester Cathedral, then Worcester Cathedral in October 2021. In 2022 we sang in Bristol and Hereford Cathedrals, and in 2023 in Bath Abbey and Coventry Cathedral. We shall sing in Salisbury and Exeter Cathedrals in 2024.
